  • According to a new leak, the OnePlus 12 could come with 50W wireless charging, USB 3.2, and an IR blaster.
  • Past leaks have indicated that the phone also features a spec-solid camera setup and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

OnePlus has had a solid year so far, with its flagships like the OnePlus 11 making their way onto recommendation lists for the best Android smartphones. However, as we note in our OnePlus 11 review, the company’s decision to exclude wireless charging in favor of fast wired charging doesn’t make sense since the tech isn’t mutually exclusive and can (and does) exist simultaneously on many other flagships. It seems OnePlus has heard enough demands about wireless charging, as a new leak indicates that the OnePlus 12 could come with 50W wireless charging.

According to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo (machine translated below), the OnePlus 12 fixes various shortcomings of recent OnePlus flagships. Namely, the device is expected to come with 50W wireless charging, USB 3.2, a high-quality periscope zoom camera, and an IR blaster.

Most of these specs have been shortcomings on OnePlus smartphones, making them fall short of becoming absolute and uncompromised recommendations. For instance, the OnePlus 11 still has USB 2.0 over the USB-C connector. It also misses out entirely on wireless charging.

Missing out on wireless charging also eats into the OnePlus Open’s lead against the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The Open does have a good quality periscope zoom camera, an IR blaster, and USB 3.1, so the company is getting there.

If this leak indeed pans out, the OnePlus 12 could become the most well-rounded flagship the company has ever made, presuming OnePlus doesn’t regress on some other features that have become mainstays in flagships these days. We’re expecting the OnePlus 12 to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, loads of RAM and storage, alongside a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging, and more.

Fans have long demanded an uncompromised flagship experience, and we’re crossing our fingers for it to happen soon.
