Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis

Price: Free to play

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has been out for about a month, and we can safely say it’s plenty of fun. Fundamentally, it’s a Gacha RPG that revolves around summoning equipment instead of characters. However, all the iconic characters are in the world, including Sephiroth, Cloud, and Zack. The game also facilitates a three-member co-op mode. Best of all, it’s free to play.

Monster Hunter Now

Price: Free to play

Another title on the market for a few weeks comes from the Monster Hunter series. Monster Hunter Now is developed by Niantic of Pokemon Go fame and borrows plenty of mechanics from that particular title. A nifty time-limit mechanic restricts the time you spend taking down each monster. You can also control your character with a single finger, whether you’re in battle or navigating the world. This takes plenty of getting used to, and we’re still not used to the combat.

Slime Battle

Price: Free with in-app purchases

Gacha games and JRPGs demand a sizeable time investment, but here’s a tower defense game for those moments when you need something quick and careless. Slim Battle is an adorable title in which humans are the antagonists. You play as a blob of slime defending their homeland from a human invasion. Sounds grim, but the title’s full of color, fluffy animations, and easy-to-master gameplay.

Soccer Manager 2024

Price: Free with in-app purchases

Here’s one of the better soccer management games we’ve played. You gain access to over 900 clubs from which you can purchase, trade, or sell real players. It’s incredibly easy to get into, even if you aren’t a soccer fan. And if you aren’t familiar with clubs, you can also engage in some international team management or create a club of your own.

Usagi Shima

Price: Free to play

Finally, how about a collection game? Usagi Shima puts you in charge of an abandoned island. You’re tasked with repairing and decorating the environment and attracting tourist bunnies to your land. The premise is adorable, and so is the animation. The bunnies that choose to stay on your island can be kitted out in cute outfits and hats, and those who decide to leave provide trinkets that you can remember them by. Too cute.
