Over the past several years, I’ve noticed this growing trend of self-love. Self-love is a long-celebrated idea in the culture, but it’s now even a celebrated idea in the church. Most of these sermons use passages of scripture taken out of context and applied far beyond their intended purpose. Satan is good at his job; In order to create a counterfeit doctrine, it has to look like a real doctrine. But the bottom line is this: Self-love is simply a sanitized version of selfishness. So today, we’re going to view the bankruptcy of the self-love doctrine and expose its lies.

Do you find that it’s hard to trust God when it seems like life is falling apart? You may have realized that confusion makes everything more difficult and emotions don’t bring clarity either, in fact, they seem to be the author of the confusion because they cause doubt and frustration, and pain, and sometimes even sin. A congregation learns their theology not only by the preaching they hear but by the songs they sing. This is why we must follow  Paul’s example in 1 Corinthians 14:15 when he says, “I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.” Both Jesus and Paul teach Christians that there is a proper way to worship and sing to the Lord; We are to do it in spirit with truth and with understanding. We are not to sing songs to God that we do not understand, because if we do not understand them, how can we determine if they are truthful? In this episode, Dale and Veronica tackle the topic of what today’s culture has identified as “worship music” and how it is teaching false doctrine.

The Bible is clear, your marriage and my marriage is a mirror of the Gospel. This idea is clearly explained in Ephesians chapter five; Husbands are to be like Christ in the way He loves the church, and wives are to be like the church in the way they respect and honor Christ. In other words, human marriage is the earthly image of God’s divine plan for humanity. So why then is the idea of incompatibility in marriage such a common notion?
