Ask Google Assistant to name a song
- On your phone, touch and hold the Home button or say “Hey Google.”
- Ask “What’s this song?”
- Play a song or hum, whistle, or sing the melody of a song.
- Play a song: Google Assistant will name the song. You can share the song, watch the video on YouTube, or add to a playlist on YouTube Music .
- Hum, whistle, or sing: Google Assistant will identify potential matches for the song. Select one of them to view the Search results page and listen to the song, read lyrics, or view the music video.
- Tip: Google Assistant can only identify songs that have lyrics.
Use the Google app to name a song
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
- In the search bar, tap the mic Search a song.
- Play a song or hum, whistle, or sing the melody of a song.
Find out what’s playing without asking (Pixel 2 & up)
You can automatically get a notification on your lock screen that tells you what song is playing. Follow the steps to turn on Now Playing.
