Surprise: New Apple products could launch before month’s end

  • Apple could be readying a surprise iMac launch before the end of October.
  • The new model could feature a 24-inch display and Arm-based CPU.
  • However, you may have to wait a year for the rumored 32-inch model.

Apple’s iPhone 15 launch may not be its final play of the year. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple could debut its long-awaited new iMac model before the end of the month.

As discussed in his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that the iMac product launch may occur early next week, on Monday, October 30, or Tuesday, October 31. Notably, this lines up with his March 2023 report that claimed a 24-inch Arm-powered iMac model could land in the final half of 2023.

Gurman has a solid track record regarding Apple announcements, but there’s also additional evidence that Apple is readying new products. Waiting times for iMacs on the Apple website are several weeks long, suggesting it might be weaning off current stock. The company has also pushed back its earnings call date by a few days. The last time this happened was in 2018 when Apple announced new iPads and MacBooks.

Speaking of MacBooks, Gurman isn’t convinced new laptops will land alongside the iMac, but he doesn’t rule it out. He notes that the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the high-end models also face similar shipping delays as their iMac sibling. It seems more likely that the 14- and 16-inch models will receive updates in 2024. And if you’re in the market for a larger iMac, you’ll have to wait a bit longer — a 32-inch display model could debut in late 2024 or 2025.
